No quarter was given nor expected at Coburg Road where Dorchester hosted Bridport.
The County Town overcame the challenge of the Daggers winning the game by 38 points to 19.
Weymouth’s five-one victory at the Bob Lucas Stadium against play off hopefuls Chertsey Town on Saturday means that the Terras Southern Premier League survival will not be decided until their final league match of the season next weekend away against Berkhamstead.
However, it will become much clearer on Monday evening after fellow relegation prospects Taunton Town, who a game in hand over the Terras with both clubs on 47 points, have played second-placed Farnham, then Weymouth should know exactly what result is required before Saturday’s game kicks off.
Our Man at the Match said: “Well where did that performance come from, the Weymouth fans have been waiting for that all season, now it’s all down to the last game if the Terras are to survive or go down. A draw away next week against Berkhamstead should be enough if other results go Weymouth’s way”.
Alas not so for Dorchester whose nil nil draw away against fellow strugglers Hungerford Town was not good enough for the Magpies to avoid dropping out of the division.
Weymouth striker Brandon Goodship banked a hat trick for the Terras with Euan Pollock and Calvin Brooks, both adding a goal for Weymouth.
Portland United took the road into Hampshire to play New Milton and returned to Grove Corner with three goals to nil win in the bank.
Pat Jenkins, Callum Corbridge and Jamie Cleaver all netted a goal for the Blues.
Portland hosts their Wessex Premier League play-off semifinal against Andover New Street at Grove Corner on Wednesday evening, kicking off at 7:45 pm.
In the Southwest Peninsular League East Bridport tightened their grip in the runners up spot with three goals to nil win at St. Mary’s against visitors Torrington.
Riley Weedon scored twice for the Bees with Will Gape also scoring.
