Police officers investigating a fatal collision near Chickerell are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
At 10.22am on Sunday 14 June 2026 a road traffic collision occurred on the B3157 Chickerell Hill near to Bagwell Farm Touring Park involving a white Toyota van and a green Kawasaki motorbike.
Very sadly the rider of the motorbike, a 24-year-old man from Weymouth, died at the scene. His family has been informed and HM Coroner notified.
The driver of the van was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Road closures were put in place between the Fleet roundabout and Nottington Lane while emergency services responded to the incident and to allow specialists to examine the scene.
Police Sergeant Dan Yates, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the motorcyclist’s family at this very difficult time.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle immediately prior to it and have not yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch with us. If you captured anything of relevance on dashcam, please also come forward.
“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which were entirely necessary to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and investigate what happened.”
