Dorchester residents have seen a series of planning applications approved, ranging from house extensions and shopfront changes to new homes and works to listed buildings.
Dorset Council has granted permission for a larger illuminated fascia sign at 33A South Street for Subway, under application P/FUL/2026/01647, while a former butchers at 35 Maud Road has approval for a change of use to a nail salon and bubble tea business, including a new timber hatch on the principal elevation.
Several household schemes were also approved, including a single-storey side extension at 16 Sydenham Way, work to a boundary wall at 28 South Walks Road, and a porch and front extension at 35 Weatherbury Way. Permission was also granted for two-storey side and rear extensions at 5 Mistover Close and a side/rear extension with an integrated garage and rooflights at 57 South Court Avenue.
In Fordington, listed building consent was granted at 61 High Street for replacement dormer window materials, a new wood-burning stove and flue works. Other approvals included bin storage units for properties at Holbaek Close, retention of a rear pergola at 14 Coade Street in Poundbury, and a new dwelling, detached garage with gym and parking at the former garage block site in Garfield Avenue.
Two larger home extension applications were granted prior approval: a rear extension replacing a conservatory at 20 Shaston Crescent and a six-metre rear extension at 10 Cromwell Road.
