A shed in a churchyard features among the planning decisions in and around the DT2 postcode area near Dorchester.
The ordinary garden shed was refused, Dorset Council planning officers claiming it would ‘harm’, the setting of the historic, Grade 1 listed building. The church wanted to use the shed for storage.
Said a report into the proposals for the shed at St Mary’s Church, Winterbourne Abbas: “The proposal would neither preserve or enhance the Conservation Area and would result in less than substantial harm (moderate in harm terms) to this designated heritage asset which would not be outweighed by public benefits.”
Other decisions included approval for a carport and store at 65 East Knighton Farm to Blacknoll Road, East Knighton; raised decking at 2 Poxwell Cottages; the use of The Creek, Fishers Place, Ringstead, as two self-contained flats; garage doors and a path at 42 Kit Lane, Owermoigne;, recognition of a conservatory as lawful at 11 The Moor, Puddletown,; extension and infill at Orchard Rise, New Street, Puddletown; Farm building to a home, Troytown Farm, Troytown.
Refused DT2 applications included a single-storey home north east of Ash Hill, Stratton; a change of use of land at Lower Muckleford House, Main Road, Muckleford, to a residential garden; a certificate of lawfulness for roofspace works at Hill Barn Farm, Wolfeton, Eweleaze Road, Charminster; an ancillary building extension at 1 Poxwell Cottages; a two-storey side extension and dormer scheme at The Stables, The Green, Puddletown.
