Dorchester Labour Party stalwart Barry Thompson said he has been surprised at the speed event events in the party have evolved.
The chair of the Dorchester, Sherborne and District Labour Party said, in his opinion, Kier Starmer was doing a “reasonable job” although his position had been constantly undermined by what Mr Thompson describes as “right wing media.”
He says he met and liked Mr Burnham at a Housing and Transport Conference and voted for him against Jeremy Corbyn in the race for the party’s leadership.
“I think he is very passionate and has done an excellent job as Mayor of Manchester, if he implements similar policies here in Dorset it would be good for the county,” said Mr Thompson.
Meanwhile, Independent group leader on Dorset Council, Les Fry, says he doubts if a change of Prime Minister will make much difference for Dorset.
“I am not overly impressed by the progress of this Government… Let us just get on with keeping the country safe and reducing the cost of living for us all.
“I don’t think a change of prime Minister will make much difference, although I would like to think that a new minister might adjust the projected targets for building houses downwards to make them realistic and achievable,” said Cllr Fry, a Dorchester councillor.
“The Country needs stability and 7 Prime Ministers in 10 years is bad for us all no matter which party you support or don’t as the case may be.”
