The Step 4 Non-League Football Season kicks off in full on Saturday with 2 of our local clubs going head-to-head at the Bob Lucas Stadium, where Weymouth play hosts to their neighbours from over the Ridgeway, Dorchester.
The Terras have made 3 more additions to their squad in the week: midfielder Will Keita, defender Aidy Silverstein and Belgian Rhudy Ntounda.
Dorchester manager Glenn Howes has also been busy signing Jack Winsor, who joined the Magpies last week.
The former Torquay United midfielder progressed through the club’s academy before signing his first professional contract at Plainmoor, and he has since gone on to gain valuable Southern League experience with Willand Rovers and, more recently, AFC Bideford, where he made more than 100 appearances across the past three and a half seasons.
The journey to Wembley starts at Grove Corner on Saturday, where Portland United entertain Sturminster Newton in an Extra Preliminary Round FA Cup tie.
Sturminster beat Christchurch by 5 goals to 1 in a Wessex League fixture on Tuesday evening, so they come into Saturday’s match full of confidence.
Last season’s Southwest Peninsula League East runners-up Bridport travel into Devon to lock horns with Torrington.
