Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a reported public order incident in Weymouth.
The incident occurred at around 7pm on Monday 24 February 2025 in Chickerell Road involving a large group of people.
The victim – a man aged in his 20s – was walking past the Admiral Hardy pub and Compass School when a black Volkswagen Polo pulled up outside. It is reported that a large group of people exited the vehicle and made towards the victim, who ran inside the pub. It is alleged that one of the group was in possession of a knife and tried to get inside the pub, but was unable to do so.
Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries.
Following enquiries by officers, an 18-year-old man from Weymouth and a 19-year-old man from Dorchester were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. They have been released on police bail as officers continue their investigation.
Police Constable Steve Pratt, of Dorset Police, said: “We believe there were a number of people in the pub that evening and I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.
“In addition, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured any footage of relevance on their dashcams.
“I understand a number of members of the public intervened at the time and I would be keen to hear from them to take their account of the events that occurred.”
