Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a two motorcycle collision near Dorchester

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as they investigate a serious injury road traffic collision near Dorchester.

The police received a report at 11.10am on Sunday 25 May 2025 of a collision on Old Sherborne Road near Alton Lane, involving a black Raleigh motorcycle and a green BSA motorcycle.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the Raleigh motorcycle – a man aged in his 60s – was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to serious injuries. His family has been informed.

The rider of the BSA motorcycle did not sustain any serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded and an examination of the collision scene was carried out.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “We are conducting enquiries into the circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please get in touch if you have not already spoken to police.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
