It’s undoubtedly the busiest time of the year for gardeners, and maybe even busier this year with more people thinking of growing their own veg. Mike Burks of The Gardens Groups talks about some of the more unusual vegetable seedlings on sale in the Group’s three outlets, and also has good advice about garden nutrients and fertilisers.

Jane Still organises the annual Cerne Giant Festival, and she talks about some of what will be happening this year – Shakespeare and the natural world, the Beltane Brew, an intriguing depiction of a day in the life of a 9th century Saxon woman in Somerset – performed by Leela Bunce.

and finally, charity shops. Dr. Violet Broadhead of Bristol University reveals what can really happen to all that surplus stuff you take to your local charity shops! It may not be making them any money at all.

Presented by Jenny Devitt.
