Detectives investigating a report that a woman was raped in Weymouth town centre are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 2.44am on Thursday 18 June 2026 that a woman aged in her 20s had been raped, with the incident reported to have occurred between 2am and 2.30am in Clifton Place.
The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers and a full investigation has been launched, led by detectives from Dorset County CID.
A cordon remains in place at the scene as enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector George Graham, of Dorset County CID, said: “Officers are supporting the victim in this matter and we are carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the relevant time period who witnessed any suspicious activity to please contact us.
“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage, as well as residents with home CCTV or doorbell camera footage.
“There will be an increased police presence in the vicinity as we carry out enquiries and officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
