Dorchester Walking Festival coming soon

Excitement is building as the 2026 Dorchester Walking Festival prepares to launch this Saturday, with more than 650 individual tickets already sold and over £2,500 raised in support of local charities.

Taking place from 2nd–10th May 2026, this year’s festival is set to be the biggest and most successful yet, offering an exceptional programme of 52 guided walks across Dorchester and the surrounding countryside.

As part of National Walking Month 2026, the festival celebrates the many physical, mental, and social benefits of walking, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get outdoors, stay active, and connect with others. It provides the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty of the local landscape while embracing a healthier and more active lifestyle.

There is still time for walkers to secure their place, with additional tickets being released throughout this final week of sales. Organisers are encouraging anyone interested to regularly check the full programme of walks available on Eventbrite: Dorchester Walking Festival – 2nd–10th May 2026.

Each walk is led by an experienced and knowledgeable walk leader, giving participants the opportunity to explore some of Dorset’s most stunning landscapes while uncovering the area’s rich history, fascinating archaeology, literary connections, and diverse natural environment.

Whether you are passionate about history, archaeology, literature, wildlife, or simply enjoy being outdoors, this year’s festival offers something for everyone, from seasoned walkers and keen hikers to those looking for a relaxed and enjoyable day out.

Importantly, proceeds from the festival walks will be donated to local charities, helping to support vital community causes while bringing people together through a shared love of walking, discovery, and local heritage.

Join us this National Walking Month to celebrate the landscapes, stories, and community spirit that make Dorchester such a special place to explore.
