Now including the final three episodes, 5, 6 & 7.
KeeP 106 is proud to present its first radio play by a local author and performed by local actors.
‘Stronghold of Happiness’ by Devina Symes is performed by the New Hardy Players and members of other drama groups in Dorchester. The production is a collaboration between the New Hardy Players and KeeP 106 Community Radio.
The story, which is fiction based on fact, is set mainly on the Dorset coast during WWII and 2005.
The setting is of a stage play rehearsal where the action slips back and forth between 2005 and WWII with a few sound effects added to put things into context.
The play centres around Peter and Ella, who, in 2005 have answered an advert in the local paper for couples who were married during WWII to write in with their love story, and are delighted when their story is chosen to be broadcast as a radio play, which includes the cast asking the older couple questions about life during WWII.
During the Q&A sessions, to save confusion, the couple playing the young Peter and Ella are referred to by their real names, Greg and Susie.
Although at its core it is a love story, there is drama, humour, and much social history.
