Dorchester celebrates 40 years since the first Community Play

Community plays started in Dorchester in 1985 with Entertaining Strangers. Written by David Edgar and Directed by Ann Jellicoe with music directed by Andrew Dickson. The Dorchester Community Plays Association celebrated it’s 40th year of original plays with a reading of this first community play and an exhibition about all seven plays that have been performed to date – namely Entertaining Strangers, Under the Gods, Running Still, Fire from Heaven, Time to KeeP, Drummer Hodge, Spinning the Moon.
